9About Me
Hi! My name is Shazia and I am currently a first year dental student at the University of Leeds. Having achieved all A*s at GCSEโs and A*, A, A at A- level, I believe that these accomplishments reflect not only my dedication to my studies but also my deep understanding of the subjects I teach.
After completing the application process for one of the most competitive degrees, I can understand the overwhelming feeling of stress that a lot of you will feel and I am here to help turn that stress into useful drive and motivation to achieve a high set of grades.
Having very recently sat the 2024 MMIโs gives me first hand experience and puts me in a very fortunate position to be able to support others who want to succeed in their application to dental school, and you could be one of these people! I am very eager to share my experiences and help you achieve your full potential, to give interviewers what they’re looking for in a prospective dental student.
Whether you’re looking for support with science subjects, exam preparation, or guidance on effective study strategies, Iโm here to help you achieve your goals. I appreciate that sometimes all you need are answers to general queries about applications/exams; I am here to answer them.
My teaching style
Building a friendly rapport with my students is very important as I feel this allows them to share their strengths and weaknesses within a topic and be able to confidently ask questions to make the most of their tutoring sessions. Breaking down exam questions is what I believe will provide students with the most support for exams- what better way to get good grades than going through past exam papers with someone really explaining and decoding the questions in detail, to make sure you give the examiners what they want? I understand the importance of personalised learning and can adapt my approach to suit your individual needs, ensuring that complex topics are explained in an easy-to-understand and engaging way (especially with challenging subjects such as A-level Biology and Chemistry). Sitting an essay-based subject alongside the science subjects meant I had to employ different skills for the subjects, and in many cases, combine these skills: I believe this is a really important asset to have. I like to approach one difficult topic at a time with my students so the sessions feel productive; a happy and enlightened student at the end makes it all worth it!
My past experience
I have past experience tutoring at the level of GCSE/A-levels, working with a variety of different students, and so my presenting and problem solving skills ensure that students leave the sessions satisfied and feel that the session was really tailored to them.
My Proudest Achievements
Getting into dental school is undeniably one of my greatest achievements as well as maintaining a high level of academia throughout GCSEโs and A-levels,
