My name is Mashia and I am a second year student studying medicine at Oxford university. Throughout my time at school, I have been able to attain consistent academic success through both my work ethic and my smart work strategies. I am passionate about helping students learn and sharing tips and techniques that I have accumulated to make their revision more successful. I can cater to different abilities, ranging from solidifying topics and improving confidence all the way to striving for top marks. I enjoy watching students progress and motivating them to reach their goals. Having been the head of the medical society at school, I have experience of guiding prospective medical students in their medical application to give them the best chance of getting offers. I myself was able to score highly on both the UCAT and BMAT and I performed well at interviews which allowed me to receive offers from prestigious medical schools including Oxford and Kings. However, I remember how daunting it was when preparing for and taking these entrance exams so I hope to make this a much less stressful experience for future students. I look forward to helping more aspiring medics get into medicine.
I base my teaching methodology on dynamic learning and teaching students how to utilise effective revision and learning techniques such as active recall and spaced repetition so they can both learn information faster while also making their independent study more effective. I believe that helping a student understand how they learn the best is just as important as helping them understand their course content.
I have 5 years experience of tutoring, including GCSE biology, chemistry, physics and maths as well as A level biology, chemistry and maths. I ran after school revision classes for groups of GCSE students in biology, chemistry, physics and maths while I was in year 11. I have also done some 1:1 A level biology and chemistry tutoring with students, including some who have wanted to finish the whole course content in one year rather than two. Additionally, I have helped many students prepare for their medical entrance exams, including both the UCAT and the BMAT.
My proudest achievements include getting 10 9s at GCSE, getting 3 A*s at A level and receiving various scholarships
