Congratulations on making it this far in your academic journey! As someone who has also navigated the stressful process of planning out their future, I understand the challenges that come with it. Initially, I aimed to be an author or researcher, but halfway through my A levels, I became interested in pursuing medicine.
As an international student who had to navigate the UK education system later in life, I believe my age and experience have given me an advantage in understanding the system without any biases. Despite the difficulties of getting into medicine and the rigorous coursework, I have found enjoyment in learning about such a fascinating subject.
When it comes to my education, I am dedicated and focused. I hope to help others pursue their passions and become as addicted to their subjects as I am to mine.
Every student has a unique learning style, so it doesn’t make sense for me to have a one-size-fits-all teaching approach. Once I have a conversation with each student, I’ll try to tailor a suitable learning style for them within the confines of online learning. For instance, some students may prefer active recall through conversations with others, while others may find audiovisual representations more effective. I plan to use three primary teaching methods – audiovisual learning through videos and drawing, targeted conversations, and past questions that focus on areas where they need improvement.
Throughout my school years, I have had the opportunity to serve as both a mentor and mentee. Currently, I am mentoring my university juniors in various subjects to help prepare them for their term exams. I take great care to ensure that they are well-prepared and have the necessary skills to succeed.
I am most proud of passing my A-level exams, despite the challenges posed by COVID restrictions and my school’s practice of administering weighted exams in every subject every week for a term. Although this took a toll on my mental health, I managed to surpass my conditional offers in all four subjects.
