Hi there! I am Emma, a current final year student at Bristol Veterinary School. The journey to enter a vet school is undoubtedly not an easy task. The journey first started with finding work experience. After fulfilling all the experiential requirements, we need to complete selection forms for different vet schools. Vet schools then will offer us an interview opportunity in an MMI format. Unlike traditional panel interviews, MMI is more unpredictable and fast-paced. I went to two MMI interviews for veterinary medicine applications two years ago. My experiences on MMI should be helpful to guide you through the daunting interview process smoothly. I also had a lot of experience in panel interviews, both as an interviewer and an interviewee. Therefore, I equip a range of essential skills for you to nail your interview!
I would describe myself as a facilitator when it comes to teaching. I had multiple experiences in facilitating others’ learning. One of my current jobs is working with the Study Skills Service at the University of Bristol to organise workshops to facilitate students’ learning and maximise their learning experiences at the university. I believe providing opportunities for students to engage in the designed activity during a lesson is the best way to consolidate their learning.
I have been a Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) leader for the last two years. Part of my job is to plan and facilitate the learning of first-year vet students. Therefore, I am capable of teaching students to nail their interviews.
My proudest achievement would be working with the vet school to organise study skill workshops for all the veterinary students at the University of Bristol as I want to help students to better their learning experiences.
