Hey! I’m a 4th year medical student studying at Aston University. I am always looking to make learning more fun and easier for myself, so thought I could share my ideas with you all. I help with medicine interview preparation and read medical personal statements. I have been doing medical interview tuitions for the past 4 years and would love to help others with their applications, helping many retain their offers – I understand how hard the process is! I have tutored many students and have built a large question bank which is up to date with each university and what their requirements are, this helps me tailor my session to whichever medical school you have applied to! My aim is to ensure confidence in all my students, as that is the main selling point in each interview. Building a frame work for each genre of question ensures that no surprise can throw the student off.
I would like to start off with an induction session where we could get to know each other and introduce ourselves. In this session we can make a plan to focus on areas where the pupil has more weaknesses. Question practice is key and doing as many practice questions/ mock innterviews is essential to getting the right key words to reach their criteria. I will start off by laying out a basic understanding of each topic after which I will go on to introduce quirky analogies that can help learn and remember content better. I will provide resources such as example answers for the basic themed questions to help the student produce their own and always be available via text/ e-mail for further queries outside of lessons.
As previously mentioned, the content taught is flexible based on the students requirements. The general layout of the lesson can include us starting with the understanding of topics and concepts, moving onto more focused interview styled questions based on which medical school the student has applied to, for which I will be providing resources for. I will end the session by running through the questions to ensure the student is hitting those key points to get the offers they require !
My lessons will be very casual and conversational, with no requirement of intensity. I believe this will help the student learn better in an environment where they feel it is easier to bring up any difficulties they have.
I have had an experience of medical interview tutoring for the past 3-4 years. I also do private tutoring in GCSE/ A-Level, biology, chemistry and maths.
Reaching 4th year of medical school alongside pursuing my passion of singing !
