Hi my name is Shaheryar, I am an innovative and caring medical student at the University of Liverpool. Having been through the medical application process twice I know how stressful it can be so I can relate and it would be a pleasure to help as many students to secure their dreams. In my first application cycle I was unsuccessful in gaining any interviews. However, the second time around I managed to obtain two interviews and two offers. After being unsuccessful I came to medic mind for help with my UCAT and my interviews which was able to boost my confidence and my skills in all 4 of my sections which led me to secure 2 offers. Medic mind helped me so I would love to give back and help others. I have always had a passion for teaching from volunteering in Pakistan to teach students English who are from poor backgrounds and helping my class mates in sixth form. During my A levels I always scored A*s and A’s in my mocks and topic tests which ultimately boosted my confidence for the exam and let me to achieve and A*AA and receiving an award for highest marks in A level Chemistry.
My goal as a tutor is not only to just teach my students but itโs also to make them comfortable and to get to know them and make sure that they are able to share the strengths and weaknesses with me so that I can help them escalate to their academic success.
In a lesson with me, I would always go through a topic youโve requested, making sure you understand the basics with a few recall questions then diving in to the deeper learning of the topic. After going through the topic in-depth making sure you understand everything we would then go through examinations questions to identify what youโve understood. After that weโd go through the weaknesses again and solidify the topic.
During my A levels at Edgbarrow School where I achieved A*AA, I used multiple strategies that enabled me to achieve the top grades to obtain a space at Liverpool medical school where Iโm due to start after taking a gap year in September 2023.
I would always try and tailor everything to your exam board as I understand this is important having been through multiple exam boards myself CIE, OCR and AQA,
For interviews I would run through the structure of your selected university and form a marking scheme and maximise and tailor these questions to the needs of your university along with running through hot topics of that year which will give you the best knowledge for interviews.
I have been a voluntary English tutor in Pakistan providing educational experiences to those from poor backgrounds.
My proudest achievements is getting 2 unconditional offers for medicine and obtaining A*AA at A levels.
