I was originally predicted AAAC at the start of year 12. I am now an Imperial College of London first year medical student who achieved A*s in A level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics, and scored 9’s in GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics.
I was essentially forced to learn how to learn, if that makes sense. As such, I’m in a unique position compared to other tutors as I understand how difficult it is to IMPROVE to the grades I could achieve, so I’ll be best equipped to help students improve to reach their full potential compared to other tutors.
If you’re looking for an enthusiastic, capable tutor who’s just gone through their GCSE’s and A levels and understands what it’s like who also has experience tutoring students of different ages, then don’t hesitate to message me and find out more!
To explain my teaching style, I’d like to repeat that I was originally predicted AAAC, and improved to A*A*A*A*. I’d learnt that there’s no point just having knowledge if you can’t apply it to the questions, as you won’t gain any marks. As such, I knew I had to change the way I studied. Simply taking notes wouldn’t cut it. PRACTICE QUESTIONS are essential for learning.
I would frame all of my lessons like this, adapting slightly to cater to the individual’s needs. The first section would involve me explaining a concept/delivering content/explaining how to do a problem to the student, and this would be followed by practice questions on the topic to consolidate the student’s learning via ACTIVE RECALL and ENSURE they understand what I’ve taught them.
Yes. I’ve tutored a GCSE Biology student, an A Level Maths student and two students in younger years. I used the same approach I’ve outlined previously, where I would deliver a lesson and then ask the students practice questions. Not only did I see improvements in their performances, but they also seemed much more engaged with the content, and seemed to see studying less like a chore as they improved.
My proudest achievements include:
Achieving 4 A*s after being predicted A,A,A,C
Getting onto my school’s basketball team after weeks/months of practice
Getting into Imperial
