8About Me
Hi! My names Reah and I am a 2nd year medical student at queens university Belfast. Iโm originally from London and went to medical school straight after sixth form. I have been through the medical school application process and understand it can be tough at times. Iโm happy to help with any queries or worries you may have, whether thatโs academically in regards to A-level biology and chemistry, medical interviews or personal statements, or whether you just need advice about the whole thing as I understand it can be stressful. I achieved an A* in biology and an A in chemistry and received 2 interviews when applying for medical school. I enjoy teaching and meeting and talking to current or prospective medical students and would describe myself as quite friendly and understanding. I look forward to meeting you and getting to work with you!
My teaching style
I would describe my teaching style as quite involved yet adaptive. I believe active learning is the best way to retain and understand information, so i try to get those who i teach as involved in their learning as possible. This would include active recall techniques, encouraging asking questions, and if youโre comfortable with it, asking you to recite and almost teach me what youโve learnt from our lesson if it applies. However I would always ask you what your preferred methods of learning is at the start of our sessions so that i can teach you in a way you like, understand and are comfortable with.
My past experience
I do have past experience with teaching. I currently teach primary school children science in university every week, and in sixth form I taught maths to primary school children as well.
My Proudest Achievements
I would say my proudest achievement thus far would be getting into medical school and making it to second year. Being a medical student is definitely not easy, it does require quite a bit of dedication. You will be sometimes feel like you are not nearly as smart as your peers and during my exams, i felt overwhelmed with the sheer volume of content. However it is important to remember what you are working towards and why you decided to do the course in the first place. As long as you enjoy it and pace yourself you will be grand. As everyone says, medicine is a marathon, not a race.
