Hi I’m Niki and I’m a 6th-year medical student at the University of Edinburgh. I’m from an international background. I’m originally Greek, but have been living my whole life in Belgium. So we can communicate in English, Greek or even French.
Applying to medical school is tricky and it takes a lot of determination. I’ve done it for 3 different countries myself. I am very happy to help you with any questions you might have – from what you should wear to the interview to how social life is like in Edinburgh.
I have a particular interest in surgery and I’ve already gone through a lot of work on the wards and seen a bunch of very interesting operations so I can tell you all about it if you’d like.
Outside of medicine, I am part of the Edinburgh medics volleyball team and I love cooking greek food for my flatmates.
My teaching style is tailored to each of my students and it depends on what you wish to cover. I’m very organised, enthusiastic and friendly. I hope that with my teaching technique, I will make you improve and do really well in your medical school interview or your UCAT.
What I also try and do is to give you some insight into what it’s actually like to be a medical student on the wards and it is like to work in a multidisciplinary team.
I’ve had more than 4 years of interview tutoring experience in total, so I can easily give you advice about general interview technique and how the interviewers like your answers to be structured.
I got the third highest baccalaureate grade in my highschool. I got a distinction in my first year of medical school.
